Texas Navy Association

The Texas Navy Association (TNA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the history and legacy of the Texas Navy, which played a crucial role in securing Texas' independence from Mexico in the 1830s. The association works to educate the public about the two historical Texas Navies (1835–1837 and 1839–1846) and their contributions to the Republic of Texas.

What the Texas Navy Association Does:

  • Historical Preservation: Promotes awareness of Texas naval history through events, publications, and exhibits.
  • Education: Provides resources about the Texas Navy's role in securing Texas' independence.
  • Honors & Membership: Recognizes individuals who support the mission, and members can receive honorary ranks in the Texas Navy.
  • Commemorations & Events: Hosts ceremonies and reenactments to celebrate Texas maritime heritage.

The Texas Navy was instrumental in protecting the Texas coast, securing vital supplies, and disrupting Mexican forces, helping Texas maintain its sovereignty until it joined the U.S. in 1845.
